I have lost all network connections after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04

I have lost all network connections after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1721 with Broadcom networking. The *-network diagnostic is UNCLAIMED for the Ethernet controller. The wireless adaptor has never worked with Ubuntu.
