Strange APT-GET problem [duplicate]

I am getting a strange message whenever I run apt-get on an Ubuntu 12.10 computer. Here is the log:

E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_quantal-updates_main_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
What do I do now?
