GL Announces Protocol Analyzer/Emulator for T3 E3 Transmission Systems

GL Communications Inc., announced today the availability of a set of Protocol Analyzers/ Emulators for T3 E3 Transmission systems. In a statement released to the press, Mr. Jagdish Vadalia, Senior Manager of Product Development for GL said, ?GL?s T3 (DS3) / E3 analyzer supports protocol decoding and analysis of ATM, Frame Relay, MLPPP, and HDLC?. He added, ?All the protocol analyzers are based on similar architecture and support sophisticated filtering, statistics and real-time capture options?.

PPP Protocol Analyzer for T3/E3


The PPP Analyzer captures a host of PPP protocols exchanged between the two nodes over T3 E3 links and provides useful analysis, which includes distribution of protocols, protocol fields, frame lengths and frame status. User can obtain detailed analysis of the protocol and can gather various statistics and measurements

Frame Relay is another commonly used data link protocol based on packet switching technology. It is mainly incorporated into corporate data networks due to its cost-effective data transmission, and flexible bandwidth.

?Supports decoding of encapsulated protocols, and long frames up to 16 Kbytes.

HDLC Protocol Analyzer / Emulator for T3 E3


GL's T3/E3 HDLC protocol analyzer provides the capability to capture, and analyze HDLC data on a T3/E3 lines. There may be a single data channel per T3/E3 line. After setting the T3/E3 ports and FCS type and starting the decoding process, the main screen displays the captured HDLC frames. Flags are stripped, and all other data is presented, including FCS bytes.


Some of the important features:


?Displays Summary, detail, hex-dump, statistics, and call trace views

?Summary view displays device#, frame#, LAPD, LAPF specific information and IP information like source/destination IP address, TCP source port, TCP destination port etc

The encoder is also optimized for ultimate CBR video transmission over constrained bandwidth channels, while preserving its quality advantages over MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. HM will demonstrate the encoder to select customers at the coming NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-23, 2009.

The DM6467 performs advanced encoding and compression, as well as video streaming and analytics to a central location. Both processors include a programmable TMS320C64x+? core and an ARM926EJ-S?.

HM's new Matisse? 1080p Encoder is XDM-compliant and supports the latest H.264 standard, which delivers up to 50 percent bit rate advantage over MPEG-2. In addition, the encoder's enhanced features make it ideal for remote gaming, wireless indoors video distribution, video-conferencing and RT surveillance and defense applications.

HM's Matisse? enables sub 70 millisecond (Msec) end-to-end transmission of full HD H.264, using strict CBR.


As in its complete line of H.264 encoders, HM implemented its Ultra Wide Range Motion Estimation on the DaVinci? technology based TMS320DM6467 processor. Matisse? is therefore capable of handling effectively ultra fast camera motion, while other encoders degrade their quality in these cases. The encoder's ability to estimate motion within the range of over 200 pixels frame-to-frame allows it to preserve high quality coding, In addition, HM's patent-pending rate control supports ultra low bit rates, enabling reduced frame rate video transmission at rates considered improbable for such transmission.

He added, ?Now, the Jitter measurement can be performed through commands with the Windows Client-Server application as well. The jitter ranges can be monitored on a specified port using simple commands by a client application.?


Mr. Vadalia further added, ?It is quite common for T1 E1 signals, within a central office environment or an enterprise telecom room, to NOT meet pulse mask requirements due to interference, too long or short cable lengths, improper impedances, or simply poor transmitter design. In such cases, pulse mask compliance is very useful in diagnosing problems.


GL?s tProbe? T1/E1 Analyzer and Universal T1 E1 Cards have pulse shape measurement capability. Software has been developed to determine if the pulse shape fits within a ?pulse mask? as specified by standards ITU G.703 and ANSI T1.102-1993. The software is available in both visual and tabular formats.?


He added, ?WCS Pulse Mask-The Pulse Mask Client-Server application in Universal boards is used for detection, monitoring, and plotting of transmitted pulses. Some of the commands supported are CheckPulseMask, validate pulse, stop pulse mask validation, and others. Pulse Mask will also return all error and warning message to WCS client as task error or warning message.?
