Human Monitoring Releases High Definition Video Stabilizer for User Generated Broadcast Applications Based on Texas Instruments' DaVinci? Technology

Human Monitoring Ltd. (HM), a leading provider of advanced video and image processing solutions for embedded platforms and PCs, today announced the introduction of a high quality high-definition (HD) stabilizer, based on Texas Instruments' (TI) digital media processors based on DaVinci? technology.


HM's high quality, XDM-compliant Leonardo? Video Stabilizer is now available, supporting up to 60 frames per second, 1080p (HD resolution), on TI's embedded processors, including the TMS320DM6467 devices.

HM's Leonardo? Video Stabilizer solution supports ultra-wide jitter cancellation, scalable-range of jitter frequency, and configurable latency starting from a single field. Leonardo? offers real-time stabilization while completing the cropped parts of the stabilized stream temporally, avoiding the need for up-scaling. These features, which were once available only to professionals, are now available to a larger number of video content producers as well.


HM's Leonardo? video stabilizer will be demonstrated at the IBC Exhibition at the TI Booth Hall 1- BM4, on September 12-16th, 2008.

Available today, the new encoder delivers increased quality and performance of real-time video capture and transmission which is required to advance security, defense and broadcast applications.


HM's new Matisse? Low Latency Encoder is XDM-compliant and supports the latest H.264 standard, which delivers up to 50 percent bit rate advantage over MPEG-2. In addition, the new encoder enables sub 70 millisecond (mSec) end-to-end latency for real-time critical applications. The encoder is also optimized for ultimate CBR video transmission over constrained bandwidth channels, while preserving its quality advantages over MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. HM will demonstrate the encoder to select customers at the coming NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 18-23, 2009.

HM's encoder is available on TI's DaVinci technology-based TMS320DM6446 and TMS320DM6467 digital media processors. The DM6446 is tuned to deliver both video encode and decode functions in a DSP-based, system-on-chip (SoC) solution. It includes video encoding capabilities through a dedicated video processing front end capable of capturing various digital formats. The DM6467 performs advanced encoding and compression, as well as video streaming and analytics to a central location. Both processors include a programmable TMS320C64x+? core and an ARM926EJ-S?.

Available today on TI's DaVinci? technology-based TMS320DM6467 digital media processor, the new encoder delivers increased quality and performance of real-time video encoding which is required for advanced consumer, security, defense and broadcast applications.


HM's new Matisse? 1080p Encoder is XDM-compliant and supports the latest H.264 standard, which delivers up to 50 percent bit rate advantage over MPEG-2. In addition, the encoder's enhanced features make it ideal for remote gaming, wireless indoors video distribution, video-conferencing and RT surveillance and defense applications.

HM's Matisse? enables sub 70 millisecond (Msec) end-to-end transmission of full HD H.264, using strict CBR.


As in its complete line of H.264 encoders, HM implemented its Ultra Wide Range Motion Estimation on the DaVinci? technology based TMS320DM6467 processor. Matisse? is therefore capable of handling effectively ultra fast camera motion, while other encoders degrade their quality in these cases. The encoder's ability to estimate motion within the range of over 200 pixels frame-to-frame allows it to preserve high quality coding, In addition, HM's patent-pending rate control supports ultra low bit rates, enabling reduced frame rate video transmission at rates considered improbable for such transmission.
